5th – Tuesday, The Sergeant Bluff Public Library and the American Legion Post 662 presents A Book Talk with Author Linda McCann “POWs In Iowa” April 5th, at 6:30 pm in the American Legion Hall, Sergeant Bluff.

9th, Saturday – A reception honoring former Charter Oak native, 2nd Lt. Vincent Cyril Pithan will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ute Hall. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. The event is being hosted by Vincent Pithan’s first cousin, Jack Staley (formerly of Charter Oak). Lieutenant Vincent C. Pithan served with honor in the United States Army in World War II. Lieutenant Pithan died in action on December 17, 1944, at the age of 28 in Monchau, Germany. For his commendable service, Lt. Pithan received a Silver Star, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze service stars and a Purple Heart. The Monona Board of County Supervisors and the Iowa Department of Transportation have graciously established a memorial bridge on Highway 141, East of Ute, to remember Lt. Vincent Pithan’s bravery and service to the American People. This reception will also be held to thank these agencies for this recognition. Iowa Representative Randall Feenstra will speak at the event.

28th – Thursday, Invitation to the private viewing of the movie Chasing The Dead with Lanae Strovers. For those that don’t know, Lanae is with Hamilton’s Funeral Home and has been the organizer for the annual event in Des Moines taking unclaimed veterans to have them interred at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. There will be a free will donation accepted that supports Chapter 12 Vietnam Veterans as well as the Iowa Patriot Guard Riders. Special announcement for American Legion post 241: (New flags will be presented on Memorial Day. In order to make sure that we get them prepared for the presentation on Memorial Day we will need them dropped off at the Legion by Thursday May 26th. Ground anchors and half staffs, we will meet on Saturday May 28th at 8am at the courthouse to locate the anchors and place the half staffs. Bring a long screwdriver, and a metal detector if you have one. Flag posting will be Memorial Day May 30th at 6am at the courthouse. There will be breakfast provided by the SAL’s afterwards at the legion. The Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:15am. The Memorial Day Program will start at 10am at the Courthouse. A Free-will donation lunch will be served at the Legion after the program. The retiring of the flags will take place around 4pm. We always need lots of help to make this event special and successful and we thank everyone who can lend a helping hand on this special day.)

20th, Friday – Tulip Festival Parade. We’ll meet at Sioux City Bomgaars (just off bypass) at 4:15 pm, KSU at 4:20 pm. Meet up at LeMars HyVee at 4:50 pm, KSU at 4:55 pm. Lineup for parade at 5:15 pm in Orange City, parade at 6 pm. Orange City, 5:15 pm lineup on Arizona Avenue just south of the courthouse. 6:00 pm parade.

27th, Friday – Patriots Bike Blessing. Siouxland Freedom Park, (1801 Veterans Dr., South Sioux City, Ne) 9 pm. Blessing presented by Thunder on the Missiori Reverend Dr. Michael Kumm. Following the blessing will be the annual Vietnam Memorial Wall Candlelight Ceremony. Everyone is invited to attend this poignant service of remembrance for our lost heroes presented by Seamus.

28th, Saturday – Nebraska American Legion Medal of Honor Ride. Gathering to pay tribute to our Medal of Honor Recipients will be known as, Medal of Honor Thunder Tribute One. The Theme of MoH Thunder Tribute One will be, Honoring Lt. Col. Charles Hagemeister. Thunder Run will end in Siouxland Freedom Park, So. Sioux City at 16:00 hours.

29th, Sunday – Thunder on the Missiori 8. Motorcycle staging: Sgt. Bluff American Legion (901 Topaz Dr. {old hwy. 75}) Sgt. Bluff, IA. Food & beverages available. Lineup: Noon – 1:45. Ride starts promptly at 2 pm. The 10 mile ride will end at the only permanently mounted 1/2 scale Vietnam Memorial Wall, in South Sioux City, Ne. where we will give our respect to over 58,000 American men & women who gave their lives for our great nation.

30th, Monday – LeMars Memorial Day parade. Parade starts at the corner of 8th Street & Central Ave. at 0915 am.

30th, Monday, Flag Presentation for Al Willett, Alton, IA. 10am Bandshell Park.

1st, Wednesday – Honor Flight, over 80 Veterans from Northwest Iowa, South Dakota, and Southwest Minnesota will be traveling through our nation’s capital – Washington. Welcome Home Ceremony 9:00 pm. Sioux Falls, SD Convention Center Arena.

3rd, Friday – Donut Day, help deliver donuts to our police officers.

4th, Saturday – Bandits game start. Ride in before the game begins. Meet at Tyson event center @ 6 pm, lineup 6:15 pm.

6th, Monday, Siouxland Freedom Park – Golf Tournament : Noon – Shotgun start

12th, Sunday – NOON will be our appreciation lunch with monthly meeting after @ O’Toole park, Central Ave & 4th St N.E. in LeMars. We’ll take a group picture after. If it’s raining we will fall back to the LeMars Legion.

12th, Sunday – Honor Ride, Supporting Midwest Honor Flight. Registration begins at 12:30 pm at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance, 1600 W Russell St, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. More information and preregistration at midwesthonorflight.org/ride .

18th, Saturday – 11 am, 2nd annual Retrieving Freedom poker run. $20 per ticket, all vehicles welcome, starting at Thirsty Duck in Sioux Falls, SD, ends at Sky lounge in Tea, SD. 50/50 and silent auction.

18th, Saturday – Ice Cream Days parade, LeMars, IA. Parade will line up on Stadium Dr., near LeMars community high school. Traveling along Central Ave. starting at 8th St. S. and continue to 6th St. N. , Then East on 6th St. To the fairgrounds.

4th, Monday – LeMars parade. The parade will begin at 11am and start at 6th St NE and travel south to 3rd St SW, ending at the museum where a picnic style lunch will be served.

23rd, Saturday – Sgt. Bluff Legion is hosting a ragbri event and needs volunteers.

31st, Sunday – backpack program at TCC Verizon. We need volunteers.

13th, Saturday – Kingsley days parade at 3 PM, line up at Kingsley nursing home at 2 PM. Meet at LeMars HyVee at 1:15 PM, leave at 1:30 PM. RC: Squid

20th, Saturday – Iron Pigs annual poker run. Rally at the LeMars HyVee @ 11:20 w/ KU @ 11:30. Swing through the Gordon Dr Bomgaars approximately 11:55. This is a Nebraska ride, so bring a lid. RC: Bishop

21st, Sunday – monthly meeting @ LeMars Legion, 1pm

28th, Sunday – IRCC Toy Run. A nice relaxing motorcycle ride on a Sunday afternoon that benefits agencies which help children. Last year we donated to LeMars Headstart, Josh’s Ride, LeMars Police Association and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

17th, Saturday – George O. Spain Healing Run. Starting at Midwest Honda, Sioux City. $25 entrant fee. Meal included. Sign in from 11-noon. Silent auction to follow.
