George O. Spain Jr. Memorial Healing Run

The George O. Spain Jr. Memorial Healing Run is the Northwest Iowa American Legion Riders (ALR) main fundraiser in the summer months. We figure we want to find ways to help veterans and their families in our area, so we may as well have fun doing it! In a nutshell, we hold a poker-style motorcycle run the third Saturday of every July. Fifteen bucks gets you in, all vehicles are welcome. We have food and an auction afterwards, and live music! It’s a good time, trust me.

Registration

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16, 2016, at Midwest Cycle (Honda, Suzuki, Kubota) at 2142 N. US Hwy. 75, Sioux City Iowa

About the Northwest Iowa American Legion Riders

The ALR is a group of motorcycle enthusiasts affiliated with the American Legion. “We work to raise awareness for veterans’ issues,” explained Willett. “We help as much as we can.” The group holds fund raisers throughout the year, disbursing the funds to help local veterans and their families.

The group meets at 1 p.m. the third Sunday of each month at the American Legion Wasmer Post 241 in Le Mars. Guests are welcome. To be eligible to join one must be a member in good standing of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of the American Legion and own a street legal motorcycle of at least 350cc, or be the spouse of an ALR member. Details can be found on their web site, www.nwiaalr.com.
